IGN’s own “The End Of Academic Degances” event was originally announced for January 12th, but IGN was unable to confirm the date or venue at the time.
The event will be livestreamed via IGN’s YouTube channel and Twitch channel, and will feature a live stream with commentary from IGN’s writers and producers.
IGN has been covering the event since its inception, but has yet to confirm when it will take place.
“The end of academic degrees” is IGN’s official motto for the event, and the announcement comes in response to complaints from members of the gaming community who feel the current system is unfair to academics.
IGN President Julie Uhrman tweeted about the event on February 8th, saying that “The world is a better place when academics have a voice.
And it is time for us to step up and be part of it.”
The game industry, and specifically the academic community, has seen a rise in threats of harassment and violence directed towards academics over the past few years.
“We’re not going to be silent,” IGN president Uhrmans stated in response.
“I know the industry wants to be heard and we’re not.
We’re here to make sure that everyone has the right to participate, and we will be taking action to make this happen.”
